These songs are a glimpse into my heart as I have struggled through a few hardships in my life growing stronger in my relationship with the Lord. The Lord has allowed me to write in song about my struggles, my questions, my revelations, His promises to me…God is good!! It’s a crazy thing to think about!

My first song recorded was Hope For Me And You. I wrote this song during a period of time in my life that I was discovering who I was without being able to do the very thing I believed I was created to do…I was hurt, disappointed, confused, sad but I knew that I knew, that when it was all said and done, everything was going to be alright because God was ordering my steps.

Don’t Turn Me Away was my next song recorded. I was a young mother when I wrote this song and I could feel God’s Spirit calling to me to draw nearer to Him. I sat down and penned this song and it rested on a clip board for about 13 years when I found it stashed away with my music memorabilia. I decided to bring it out and see what Rob (he mixes the tracks) and I could do with it. It’s my husband’s favorite song.

My God and Joy were recorded next. All I can remember is Joy was inspired by that song I sung as a child, “I’ve got the joy, joy, joy ,joy down in my heart…down in my heart to stay!” And My God was written from discovering God’s acceptance of me no matter what….He’s just bigger than all of that and His love is true for us.

No One Else and Enough were written as I realized that Jesus is all I need. He’s my anchor, my hope, my strength…His grace is sufficient.

No Other Name was written when Rob challenged me to write something in a 3/4 time signature….like a waltz…1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3…get the picture? Anyway, I sang a song I knew in 3/4 time and then I wrote a song to go with it. It flowed right into No Other Name. I was inspired by how Jesus’ name is above ALL names….respected and honored by all one day…even the demons shudder at the mention of Jesus’ name. There’s power in His name!

Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and songs come to me. That’s the case with I Wonder and It Changes My Life. I Wonder was a result of someone I was praying for at the time (and still do) and I would lie awake and wonder about this person and pray that one day soon he would know how much God loves him. It Changes My Life is another night lying awake but this time feeling so blessed and grateful and how being in HIS presence is life changing.

Why Jesus and Because I Know were written after being inspired by hearing my Pastor preach and the arrows of God’s word pierced my heart and allowed me to see more of HIM and revealed another section of my heart that needed healing.

No Mountain was written after my Pastor challenged me to write a song to celebrate our church’s 20th year since being established. At the time Pastor was doing a series of messages about trusting God when you see a mountain in front of you…the theme of the celebration was God’s love, His acceptance and His forgiveness…so I went to work and asked God to help me write a song. God is so good!!! He’s just so good!

I’m excited to tell you that I have another CD in the making. I am currently working on my 6th song and God is giving me ideas I just need to spend time pulling them altogether so this project can be completed soon. The songs on this CD are inspired by my life experiences and friends’ experiences with whom I’ve walked. I pray you will be encouraged. God is good!

JESUS LOVES YOU was inspired by the memory of rocking my sons to sleep and singing to them “Jesus loves you this I know….” This song flowed easily from pen to paper as I recalled my sweet little babies resting in the safety of my arms.

LEGACY was written after my Grandmother passed away. I would go with my mom to my grandmother’s house and we would go through all her stuff and decide what would be saved and what would be given away and what would be thrown away. I remember sitting in the middle of the floor surrounded by all of her stuff and I asked Mom, “So is this what happens? You live your life….you collect stuff…and then someone else goes through all your stuff and decides what is worth keeping and what will be thrown away?” I was so distraught about the thought of this that I was impressed and encouraged by my husband to write this song. It truly shares the cry of my heart of wanting my life to be more than…just that….more than…

WAITING was a song that came out of a time when my dad’s life was touch and go after having several heart attacks. I would drive my mom over across the mountain to the hospital and we would sit and wait…and wait….and wait. It was a very difficult time as we didn’t know from one day to the next whether he would live or die. By-the-way, he is still with us but his health is very fragile.

TOGETHER is my husband’s favorite song because I wrote it for him as a gift for our 28th Anniversary. He truly is my hero and I love him with all my heart.

DON’T PASS ME BY and HERE I AM were written during a time of struggle in my life battling the feelings of defeat and inadequacy.

GOD’S LOVE was a tune I had written years ago and had forgotten about. I found this amateur recording stashed away in a box and penned these lyrics. God’s love is more than we can ever imagine…what other God has EVER given His ONLY SON to die on behalf of a world filled with sin, shame and  darkness so that we could be made blameless…now that’s love!

THE PEARLS was inspired by a story I was told years ago that was jogged in my memory from having to let go of a ministry I poured my heart and soul into and had 20 years invested. It was one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever made but God was impressing me to let go…because He wanted to do a new thing in me and for me. I’ve never regretted letting go.

YOU ARE HOLY – God is a holy God and I think in the distractions of every day life we lose sight of God’s holiness. He’s so much bigger than anything we ever come up against in this life we live. I just wanted to write a song about it.

STAND UP – I was doing a study on Gideon and his life when I wrote this song. I struggle so much with feeling inadequate, and in my weak moments, I can have a tendency to lose sight of WHOSE I am and begin to feel like the victim instead of the victor that I truly am…because God has already fought my battles for me…I just need to act like it!

God is so good! He gave me more songs to share with you! This CD, No Other Name, is my favorite because there was such a freedom of worship that flowed from my heart as we worked on each song.

On this CD I have included two of my favorite hymns (Holy, Holy, Holy and Amazing Grace). I remember, as a young girl, singing both of these precious hymns in the Baptist church and I love the message of both of these hymns – the holiness of our God and His beautiful grace.

I’ve also included two songs from my first project (It Changes My Life and No Other Name) because of their message of the power of the name of Jesus and how our lives are changed in His presence.

Another old chorus I remember singing in the Baptist Church was The Doxology, a short chorus that lifts praises to our God. I changed the melody up a bit and added two more verses and a chorus. (Praise God)

The other five songs are totally new and original. Songs that I wrote during a desert time in my life which sent me to my knees and clinging to the cross (I Remember and Hold On)…finding peace as I let go (Sweet Peace, Your Love and You’re Worthy).

I pray that as you listen to these songs you are drawn into the presence of God and you experience His unfailing love, His overwhelming peace, His blessed hope, His great power and His eternal salvation.
